House cleaning is one of those challenges that haunt us even in our dreams. No matter how frequently we clean up our home, there will always be some places left behind that remain dirty.

You need appropriate cleaning equipment to spot the most neglected areas in your residential property. That’s the reason why most of us leave all this to professionals or hire a house deep cleaning service as they know all the hard-to-reach places in your home.

However, if you are cleaning your house on your own, have a look at some of the overlooked places mentioned below.

Window curtains and blinds

Your window curtain can collect a lot of dirt and dust particles. If your pets like sitting in the windows watching the outside world, the curtains collect tons of pets’ hair. Blinds can be cleaned easily with a pair of tons. Simply wrap a cloth on the tongs’ arms, take hold of each slat of tongs, and thoroughly wipe both sides. Repeat the process for each slat.

If you have curtains, clean them with the upholstery attachment on the vacuum. This will eradicate all the dust particles and pet hair piled up over time.

Back of large appliances

Large appliances in your home like refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, etc., need a thorough cleaning. Most people clean them from the inside regularly but forget to clean behind and under these appliances.

Speaking of refrigerators, the dust accumulates on the coils and reduces the cooling efficiency of the refrigerator. If the dirt racked up on the dryer, it could initiate a fire. Switch off your fridge and vacuum behind and underneath it. Use a lint brush and clean the coils and dryer.

Mattress

Mattresses are equally important as bedsheets and need cleaning after every 6 months. You can either hire experienced house cleaning services in New Orleans or DIY using the following steps:

  • Remove the bed sheet and vacuum the mattresses thoroughly
  • Use detergent, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide to eliminate any stains
  • Blot the stains instead of rubbing with a damp cloth
  • Sprinkle an abundant amount of baking soda and leave it there for two to three hours. It helps in removing foul odors
  • Vacuum the mattress again to get rid of baking soda residues

Behind the toilet seat

Make it a habit to thoroughly clean your bathroom once a week to avoid the spread of germs. Unfortunately, while you spruce up every corner of your bathroom, you usually forget to clean the area behind the toilet seat.

Germs and bacteria mostly accumulate here. Use a cleaning agent behind the toilet area and let it sit there for a ten-minute. Then, wipe it with a cloth.

Trash Cans

Even if you put trash bags in your dustbins, dirt and gunk still accumulate inside and outside the bins over time. Use a garden hose and spray the grime out that has been piled up. Next, use soap and a sponge to wipe the inside of your trash cans, then again rinse them with a garden hose.
